Long time.

So it has been a really long time since I updated. I have been super busy these last few weeks and the busy-ness won't stop until the term is done. Well, I have been at my work placement a bunch of times now. I'm doing a placement at the North Yorkshire County Council and I was doing work with their database. Basically, I work in the Heritage and Development office. They give advice to local authorities in regards to planning permits. When people submit a planning request, say they want to build a house, they have to go through the local government. The local authorities send these requests to the County Council who looks in their database to see if there is a record of archaeologically significant things in the area. If there is, they tell the people that they have to get an archaeologist to come to the site and make sure that there isn't anything there that is significant. They can basically reject or approve the planning applications. It's pretty cool.
My classes are going well. We have 2 weeks of actual classes left and then 1 week of no classes but it is still part of the term, then it is break. I have 2 papers due in 3 weeks and I am getting stressed about them. I have alot of things going on in this next while and I will need to start managing time much better.
I went to a friend's house for Thanksgiving, she's also American obviously. That was fantastic. Tonight we are having another Thanksgiving dinner with some other people. I managed to get my hands on some pumpkin filling which is almost impossible to get here and I made pumpkin pie, lots of it. Hopefully they turned out ok, they do look great though.
I haven't really been on any fancy trips lately. It's a little hard to do that during the term. But, I will be going to London for 2 days on Dec 22 to see Hamlet. Not at the Globe theatre, but it's still going to be awesome. Also, my friend and I are going to do some traveling over break, hopefully to Italy. I'm very excited about that as well. It will be hard to not be at home over Christmas, but I have met alot of great people here that I can spend time with.
I do miss you all alot, hope things are going well for you!
Miss you, love you
Lauren
